1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device, remember your actions and preferences, and understand how the site is being used.
First-party cookies are set by MetaKit. Third-party cookies are set by another domain, such as our analytics or payment providers. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser, while persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them.
We also use closely related technologies — including local storage, session storage and pixels— for similar purposes. References to "cookies" in this policy include those technologies.
2. Which cookies do we use, and why?
We use cookies to keep you signed in securely, to remember your preferences, and to understand how our site and dashboard are used so we can improve them. We group them into three categories.
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the Services to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They handle authentication and session management, security and fraud prevention (including CSRF protection), load balancing and network management, secure payment processing through Stripe, and recording your cookie consent choices.
Because these cookies are essential to deliver a service you have requested, they are set without consent. If you block them through your browser, parts of the site — including sign-in and checkout — will not work.
2.2 Analytics cookies
These help us understand how visitors find and use MetaKit — which pages are viewed, how long sessions last, which features are used, where errors occur, and which referral sources bring people to us. The data is used in aggregate to improve the product and the site.
These are set only with your consent and can be withdrawn at any time. We use Google Analytics for this purpose; the information generated is processed by Google and subject to Google's privacy policy. We have IP anonymisation enabled where available.
2.3 Preferences & features cookies
These remember choices you make so the interface behaves as you expect — theme, timezone, default account selection, table and chart layouts, and dismissed notices. Blocking them will not break the site, but some settings will reset on each visit.
2.4 Advertising cookies
We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share personal information for behavioural advertising. If this changes, we will update this policy and request consent before setting any such cookie.

The table below lists the main cookies used across our website and dashboard. Exact names and durations may vary slightly as providers update their systems.

4. Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by third parties whose services we rely on. We do not control these cookies, and their use of any data collected is governed by their own policies:
- Stripe — payment processing and fraud prevention during checkout, via Stripe Custom Elements. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Google Analytics — aggregate usage measurement. See Google's privacy policy. You can also install Google's opt-out browser add-on.
5. Consent
On your first visit we present a cookie banner. Strictly necessary cookies are set immediately because the site cannot function without them. Analytics and preferences cookies are set only after you accept them.
Your choice is stored in the mk_consent cookie for 12 months, after which we will ask again. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time — see Section 6 — and withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
6. How to change or opt out of cookies
- Our preference centre.Use the "Cookie preferences" control in the site footer to review and change your categories at any time.
- Your browser. All major browsers let you view, block or delete cookies. Instructions: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
- Global signals. We honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) where your browser transmits it, treating it as an opt-out of non-essential cookies.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or completing a payment. Blocking analytics or preferences cookies will not prevent you from using MetaKit.
